Joint Action 2016
The Joint Market Surveillance Action 2016 (JA2016) on GPSD products is a single pan-European project in which 32 Market Surveillances authorities from 25 Member States (MS) of the EEA will participate under the coordination of PROSAFE.

Objectives
The primary objective of the Joint Action 2016 is to further develop the conditions needed for the Member States to cooperate successfully on market surveillance activities. Also, these actions aim to foster Best Practises Guidelines among Member States national authorities and to ensure a broader dissemination of the results of the products-specific market surveillance activities.
Threefold structure
- The method development and horizontal activities are aiming to develop methodologies and infrastructure that will support the market surveillance work in the Member States and in PROSAFE. These method development activities address risk assessment, continuous improvement of national market surveillance authorities (CIMS), e-learning, and new and emerging issues.
- The project management and coordination activities are common to all (or most) of the product-specific activities where PROSAFE wishes to encourage a consistent approach. They will help ensure that adequate attention is being given to issues such as the use of best practices, cooperation with customs, online sales, traceability, and international collaboration including outreach to producer nations such as China and impact environment.
- The product specific activities consist in taking samples of the product concerned and submit these for testing. These activities are purporting to increase the safety with a specific product or product category. These are:
