CIMS Review in The Netherlands    

 The Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority, NVWA, has hosted the second CIMSReview of JA2015, coordinated by PROSAFE. The meeting took place on 14-15-16 February 2017, at the NVWA Offices, in Utrecht and Zwijndrecht, The Netherlands. The host welcomed the participating authorities from Bulgaria, Estonia, Finland, France, Latvia, Malta and Slovakia.
The meeting gave the participants the opportunity to share information, best practices and review the NVWA market surveillance system and procedures. The review team will prepare a report to highlight the findings of the CIMS three-days-meeting, which will be published on the members' only section of the website.

JA2014 - 112 Safety Barriers Are Tested  

Many parents are using safety barriers to keep their children away from the dangerous corners of the house. These products are not always compliant with the current regulations and there might be a risk of accidents, like falls, choking or even strangulation.
Officials from 12 EU countries, who are taking part to the Joint Action 2014 Activity on Safety Barriers, are currently investigating if these kind of products sold on the European market are compliant to the current standards. The market surveillance authorities are verifying 112 products. 

CIMS Review in Bulgaria – Another success story                                                                                              

The Directorate General responsible for Market Surveillance within the State Agency for Metrology and Technical Services (SAMTS) has hosted the first CIMS Review of JA2015 coordinated by PROSAFE on 4-5-6 October 2016.

JA2015 Playground equipment inspections

Children are the most precious gift and parents’ number 1 concern is their health and safety. There is no suprise therefore that products used by children feature prominently in PROSAFE Joint Actions. Joint Action 2015 includes a review of 3 groups of products used by children: child care articles, toys and playground equipment.

This project follows a similar one, Playground Equipment 1, which took place under the Joint Action "Safe play on the Playground!". Most of PROSAFE Joint Actions involve reviewing the safety of new consumer products. This project is different since Member States will assess the safety of playground equipment that is already in use. The reason is that this type of equipment degrades through use and exposure to the elements. Although each swing, roundabout or see-saw may have started life by conforming to the relevant safety standard, EN 1176 - playground equipment, it may have been poorly maintained or become unsafe since it was installed.
